1. Bring a short scene
To try the rehearsal controls before preparing a script, open The Last Train, our free two-person demo. Choose either character and hear the recorded reader play the other part. For solo material, choose an original speech from the monologue library. These demos use fixed text and saved recordings; importing your own script belongs to the full app.
Open CueRoom from your account using your purchased access or beta invitation, and choose Import a script. Upload a PDF or paste the scene as text. Text PDFs usually give the importer clearer information than a photograph or scan. CueRoom can attempt text recognition on scanned pages, but you should expect more corrections.
Start with a few pages. A short scene lets you check the import and voices before spending time on a full script. Only upload material you have permission to use.
2. Review the characters and dialogue
The review screen puts the source beside the extracted lines. Check that each line belongs to the right character and that page headers haven’t become dialogue. Correct spelling, missing words, or character assignments before choosing Save & rehearse.
Stage directions stay visible as context. Reader audio skips bracketed and parenthetical acting notes. If the printed script uses an unusual convention, check the result yourself.
For pasted text, start simply:
MAYA: Then we have four minutes to decide.
JULES: What do you want to do?
A clear character label followed by a colon is a useful starting format.
3. Choose your character and reader
Select the part you’re learning. In Reader settings, choose Studio AI voices for the other characters or use device voices. Device voices depend on your browser and operating system. Studio voices require an active Studio Voices subscription or an invited beta voice allowance, a connection, and remaining characters. Use device voices if Studio voices are unavailable.
Try the reader at normal speed first. If a voice feels too measured for your scene, adjust Studio reading speed. Changing the text, voice, or speed can require a new recording.
4. Rehearse with visible or hidden lines
Press Start rehearsal. CueRoom reads the other parts and leaves your part to you. Keep your lines visible while finding the scene, then hide them when you want to test recall. Use Prompt when you need to hear the current line.
In a supported browser, microphone cue detection can advance after you finish your line. Enable microphone permission and try headphones to keep the reader’s audio out of the microphone. You can always use Next to advance manually.
5. Work the difficult transition
Use Again to return to the previous cue. Bookmark a line that needs attention or choose a scene from the sidebar. The original script remains available in the review screen when you need to check the wording.
Generate once. Rehearse again and again.
CueRoom saves the AI reader audio it generates. Replay a saved line 100 times without using more AI characters.
Changing the words, voice, or speed may require new audio and use more characters.
The first new AI reader recording may take a moment. CueRoom prepares upcoming reader audio during active rehearsal to reduce waiting between lines.
Using CueRoom in your browser
CueRoom currently runs in a browser. Apple App Store and Google Play versions are not available yet. Automatic cue detection and voice playback vary by browser and device. Try a short scene on your usual device before a longer rehearsal.
This is a rehearsal tool. The current version does not record or export a self-tape. Free beta invitations are issued individually. Applying does not grant immediate access or start a subscription.
